Finish – Stop Procrastinating and Finish Your Tasks

Total Score:  29.5

Finish is a procrastinator’s dream – well, if your dream is to finish things.  This app allows you to see your short-term, mid-term and long-term tasks at a glance.  This app helps you stay focused on what you committed to work on during a certain time and still keeps what’s coming up visible.  You might gather from my app reviews that I have a lot of tasks and I struggle to keep up with them.  That would be completely accurate. I have tried a lot of productivity, to-do type apps and now, Finish is my go to app.

Taskboard – Simple Lists and Visual Worklow

Total Score:  29.5

I have a lot of tasks on my plate.  I continue to search for a simple way to keep track of them.  About a year ago someone told me to write my tasks on index cards and prioritize them by color.  I liked the method, but I couldn’t really keep it up because I needed to see all the tasks at once.  This app, Taskboard – Simple Lists and Visual Workflow is just what I needed.  I love the ability to see an overview of what is outstanding and the ease of moving the tasks around.  I think you will too.     Continue reading

Any.DO_Pix1

Do it All with Any.DO

Total Score:  29.5

I test a lot of productivity apps because I crave organization.  I am not organized by nature, so I need a lot of help.  I want options to order reminders by date, by category, prioritize some – but not others, get reminders, add, and move them around easily.  Any.DO does all those things, and a few more.

Essential Travel Checklist

Get Peace of Mind with the Essential Travel Checklist App

Total Score:  29.5

I am a list maker, and my iPhone and iPad have certainly added to my ability to keep track of things, but when I found this specialized travel checklist I knew I found something that would be a must-have for organizing my travel experiences.   I am not an adventurous traveler, so if I forget anything I can usually replace it at a local store.  All I face is an inconvenience and a loss of time.  But what if the thing I forgot was something that was critical to the experience – like a special dress for a wedding.  That can move forgetting something from an inconvenience to a major disappointment.  Don’t let that happen, let the Essential Travel Checklist for iPhone and iPad help you keep track of everything you want to do before you go and everything you want to take with you.   Continue reading

30/30 App Helps You Make the Most of Your Time

Total Score: 29.5

Most people struggle with time management.  I would certainly include myself in that group.   I have multiple projects and tasks that need to be accomplished and I sometimes spend too much time on one task and fail to leave enough for the next.  They are equally important, but I do not devote the appropriate resources to each.  That problem may just be at an end.  With the 30/30 app for iPad or iPhone, you can determine how much time you plan to spend on each task and receive a reminder when it is time to switch.  I can see that this would also help you understand how much time each task takes.  This app is so much more than a timer. Nota Plex App – Makes Note Taking Fun, Functional and Flexible

Total Score: 28

Preparing a document with unique or complex characters and functions can be done, but it isn’t easy or fun.  The Nota Plex app offers options that make typing numbers and special characters amazingly simple.  It also offers a way to organize notes, index cards or full documents into multiple pages – allowing you to keep your projects visually attractive and easy to access.   A key component of this app is the ability to type math problems and solve them as you type.  This is something I haven’t seen before.

Remember The Milk and a Whole Lot More

Total Score: 28

I have used a number of the reminder type apps and up until now haven’t found one that meets all of my needs. This app may be the one I have been searching for.  I’ll go into all the details below, but Remember the Milk has a couple of things that I like.  I know it may be shallow, but I like my reminder app to be attractive – and this one is.  You can easily organize your tasks by day, week month and not just one list.   I suppose it’s not important, but I love the icon! SmartPlans – Multi Planner, Multi-Tasking Just Got Easier

Total Score:  28

I don’t know about you, but I have multiple projects going on all the time.  Reminder apps do not quite meet my needs.  I need something a little robust so that I can manage my time more efficiently.  Smart Plans – Multi Planner for iPhone or iPad fills that need.    I can create a simple task list and create a number of multi-month projects.    This is not an app designed to be shared with a team, this is an app for one person’s use to manage their time and tasks.  Continue reading

iReminder – To Do and Reminder w/Snooze and Alert – Could This Be the Perfect Fit?

Total Score:  28

I am somewhat of a to-do list junkie.   It’s not that I must have all of them.  It’s that I have had trouble finding just the right one.  I know this comes down to very personal tastes, but iReminder for iPhone and iPad seems to have all the things I am looking for.  It’s easy to enter, I can put in dates and times and it comes up on my iPhone reminder screen.  For me it has to be functional first, but it also needs to be colorful and intuitive.  This app is a perfect fit for me. USB Disk for iPad – Document Transfers Made Easy

Total Score:  28

I went shopping on iTunes for a simple document transfer app. There are a lot of good ones that make use of a cloud, but I wanted one that was between my iPad and me.  USB Disk for iPad and USB Disk Pro for iPad were just what I needed.   Using iTunes, you can easily transfer files from your drives to the app.  Once the files are in the app, you can create folders, move them from one folder to the next and view the files.  It is a handy way to store documents you use regularly.

This app (I use the pro version) gets a thumbs up for sustainability.  I’ve had it downloaded for two years and continue to find it valuable.

Clear Your Mind and Clear Your Task List with the Clear App

Total Score:  29.5

I am constantly searching for a great to-do list app.  I have tried and used a number of them.  All of them work if I put in the effort to keep them up.  So, why didn’t I stay with them?  I think it’s because I haven’t found one that easily lets me move tasks around, create multiple lists, and frankly is just great looking.  Clear has it all. I have been using it for both my personal and work life for about a week now and have been very pleased.  I have already recommended it to my friends – which to me is the best review I can give. Expect More – and Get it – With Target.com Apps

Total Score:  28.5

Target is one of my favorite stores.  I can always find what I need, and at a good price.  There is a store within a decent driving distance and they have a good selection of products with my preferred brands.  And, of course, they sell a lot of things so I can combine the effort of shopping at several stores with the convenience of finding what I need in one place.  This isn’t a commercial for Target, this is to acknowledge that having the Target iPhone or iPad app can save you time and help you make the most of your trips to the store or ordering online. Total Score:  28

Have you ever wanted to capture a website and add a big arrow that says, “Click here” when you tried to explain something?   Or, perhaps, thought of a funny caption to add to a photo?   Skitch for iPad and iPhone offers you that and much more.  You can add arrows, circles, squares, lines, crop an image, add text or just write on it.  I fell in love with this app at the creation of my first, well, I guess we call them skitches.

Penultimate – Best in Class iPad Handwriting App

Total Score:  29

I have been looking for an app that would allow me to take notes in meetings, annotate photos and generally help me stay organized.  I have tested a couple of apps that met that need, but until now, none that inspired me like Penultimate.   I started out my test enjoying the features offered – ink colors, moving between pages, cutting, erasing and importing photos.  From that point, I decided I needed to create a book of my own.  First I documented my New Year’s resolutions (if you write them down you are more likely to achieve them), then I decided I needed a fitness journal, and then I decided I wanted to create a life journal and I haven’t even gotten to the work uses yet!  I think this app will exceed your expectations and dare I say it, improve your life!
