First, let me say that both the Misfitwearables SHINE and the Jawbone UP and their accompanying apps are very good. Each accomplishes the assigned purpose – movement tracking. The ability to quantify how you are progressing in your exercise program can be an incentive to improve your health.
Now that I’ve said that, let’s get down to the detail of why, for me, the SHINE is the best product.

Part of attaining and maintaining good health is the ability to monitor and understand your daily activity, sleep and diet. Up by Jawbone, a wristband that works with this iPhone app, helps you along that path. The feedback the app provides you helps you to understand what you need to do to have better health. When you know how many calories you burn through activity, you can determine if you need to exercise more. By monitoring what you eat, you can make healthy changes to your diet. Knowing the quality of your sleep helps you to plan and improve that vitally important part of your health regimen.
