Have you always wanted an assistant who would see that you wake up in the morning. Essentially giving the responsibility to someone else. Well, this app goes a long way to granting that wish. You set the alarm, and believe me, getting the darn thing to stop ringing is a challenge. There won’t be any oversleeping when you use this app. Give Carrot Alarm – Talking Alarm Clock a try.
Back in the day (a year ago?) you had to go into the app store and purposefully update any apps. That gave you the opportunity to read the release notes and see what was new. It wasn’t exactly a burden, but Apple improved iOS and made those updates automatic. Now, you have to go to the App Store, tap updates, and then read. It’s a couple of steps, but should you do it? I think so, read on if you want to know why.
HoursTracker Pro can assist you with tracking time you spend on tasks/jobs. You may need it to document billable hours, or you may just want to know how long you spend on each task to better manage your time. If you need a record of your time, then this app is invaluable, if you are just interested in time tracking, then it is helpful. It is easy to understand what you need to do with no complicated functions. I have been experimenting with time tracking for about six weeks. This is the first app that I found to meet my needs. I’m not saying there aren’t others out there – just that this one clicked with me.

You share your fitness photos and successes with your friends and get the opportunity to brag a little, along with being inspired by others. I usually share the photos I created in FitSnap.
FitSnap is a great app to capture your fitness event photos. It is motivational and sharable. It has a lot of sports options and is really easy to use. This app captions and frames your fitness photo and makes it easy to save the image and/or share it through mail, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

An app about cancer or other life threatening illnesses isn’t sexy. It isn’t something you want to think about – but perhaps something we should remember to keep in our lives. Reading the Generosity app magazine for iPhone or iPad, reminds us that giving of our time and/or money can make a difference in the lives of others. In our technology filled lives, adding an app to our iPhone or iPad can remind us to take a minute to remember that giving helps others and to be present in our lives and enjoy each moment. The magazine was created by a Florida hospital, but contains content that can be informative or inspiring to all.

There are a lot of list making apps and even specific grocery list apps on the app store. I’ve tried a number of them and have used a few for years, but Grocery List – Buy Me a Pie! for iPhone and iPad is my new favorite. Probably because it is so easy to prepare a list. And, it is equally easy to prepare a list and share it with friends and family. Give it a try and see what you think.
IFTTT app allows you to create recipes for actions. The recipes are “if this, then that” scenarios. If breaking news happens about your favorite sports team, you can set up a text message. You can set up text messages to warn you about weather alerts. Since IFTTT connects to email, social media, sports, health and other apps there are a fair number of options to create “recipes” for actions for you. I wasn’t sure I would like this, but I am getting regular emails about free Kindle books and have downloaded a fair number of them. I’ve also passed on a number of them – but I wouldn’t have found the books without IFTTT. And, I’m sure Amazon would appreciate this, liked the books so much that I purchased additional books by the author.
I am a huge NPR fan and didn’t think anything could woo me away from my local station. But then, I found the Swell Radio app. I get the best of NPR, TED talks and intelligent stories from comedy, sports and news channels. This app provides unlimited streaming audio. It learns what you like and, over time, delivers radio-like content that matches your interests. But, in addition to that you can decide to focus on business, comedy, sports, etc. Continue reading →
