Once you have a clear idea of what you are eating, you’ll naturally adjust, limit, and then change as needed. It is colorful, easy to use, and has a few social aspects that may help you come back often. Give it a try to see what you think.
Update: Lose it has upped their game by adding Apple Watch functionality to the app. For you Watch users, you can add a complication to your watch face that gives you an indicator of how you are doing each day. You’ll see a number (the number of calories you have left in the day) and an up or down arrow. Up means you are over your mark, down means you have some room for that snack. It made this app worth another try.

If so, Italy Foods, is a handy translation app for translating, and learning to pronounce foods in Italian. And, of course, if you are Italian, and want to translate your favorite foods into English, then this is for you as well. PumpUp – Health & Fitness Community is the social networking equivalent of Instagram. But that’s not all it does, you can build workouts as well! You share your fitness photos and successes with your friends and get the opportunity to brag a little, along with being inspired by others. I usually share the photos I created in FitSnap.
FitSnap is a great app to capture your fitness event photos. It is motivational and sharable. It has a lot of sports options and is really easy to use. This app captions and frames your fitness photo and makes it easy to save the image and/or share it through mail, Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
An app about cancer or other life threatening illnesses isn’t sexy. It isn’t something you want to think about – but perhaps something we should remember to keep in our lives. Reading the Generosity app magazine for iPhone or iPad, reminds us that giving of our time and/or money can make a difference in the lives of others. In our technology filled lives, adding an app to our iPhone or iPad can remind us to take a minute to remember that giving helps others and to be present in our lives and enjoy each moment. The magazine was created by a Florida hospital, but contains content that can be informative or inspiring to all.
Azumio has brought themselves to the forefront of fitness apps with their latest version of the Argus – Motion and Fitness Tracker. Working with the new M7 motion sensor, it captures a significant amount of data. Whether you have the latest iPhone or not, you’ll find a lot to like with this app.
First, let me say that both the Misfitwearables SHINE and the Jawbone UP and their accompanying apps are very good. Each accomplishes the assigned purpose – movement tracking. The ability to quantify how you are progressing in your exercise program can be an incentive to improve your health.
Now that I’ve said that, let’s get down to the detail of why, for me, the SHINE is the best product.

Shine is an app that lets you set goals for weekly activity and track your progress. There was an indiegogo project for a wearable device that will be the companion product to this app. The device, when available. will be the size of a quarter and introduce a new way to sync with your iPhone. Until that product becomes available, the Shine app can still help you plan and provide motivation.
Update 8/3/13 – at long last my Shine has arrived. I’ll begin testing and providing additional feedback as to ease of use. You’ll find that content at the end of this review.
The key to eating a balanced diet is to eat unprocessed foods, lots of vegetables and a good balance of protein and carbohydrates. I know this. I don’t know about you, but I don’t always eat unprocessed food and certainly not enough vegetables. And, I haven’t the faintest idea whether I am balancing my proteins and carbohydrates. In order to maintain a healthy diet I need help. That isn’t so hard to say. You probably need help as well. There are a number of good apps available to help you with this process. I’ve tried a number of them successfully. After testing MyNetDiary on the iPhone and iPad, I’m ready to say this is my favorite app. It is full featured, and best of all, incredibly easy to use.
