Use Your Handwriting Gold – Easy and Fun List Making

Total Score:  28

The Use Your Handwriting app is one of my favorites.  While I am a decent typist on the tiny iPhone keyboard, using my own handwriting is a treat.   I create grocery lists, lists of DVDs I want to watch, gift lists and to do lists.   Whenever someone asks me why I like my iPhone, this app is one of the first that I demo.  It never fails to get a “Wow.”  The icon for the iPad version is identical. Shazam App – Name that Tune

Total Score:  24

Shazam is a handy app to have when you hear a song and cannot remember the name or artist.  The app listens to the radio or music source (not your singing), identifies the song, album (with cover art), and offers you a link to iTunes in case you want to buy it.  The main purpose is to identify the name of a song – not to listen to music.  The iPad app icon has a silver band around it and the background color is a slightly darker blue. Pandora App – Music Your Way

Total Score:  28

Pandora Radio app is a must-have for music lovers.   You can select any artist, song or composer and the app will play your selected choice first and then other artists/composers/songs with a similar sound.   Many of you are already familiar with the PC version of Pandora. The one difference is the music will play longer before checking to make sure you are still “in the room.”  You might still fill your iPod with personal music, but will find you use this app more than your own tunes.  The icons are identical, but there is a specific app for the iPad.
