Will You Use It Rating = 5     Weather apps are useful to prepare for your day. For me, they are my most essential apps.

Downsides Rating =0     I am not crazy about the wake up music, it seems a little subdued to me. Perhaps I should crank up the volume.

Consumer Review Rating = 4.5    There have been over 700 reviews and people are reacting positively to the app.

Why Do You Need This App Rating = 5     I spend a lot of time out-of-doors and having a weather app is essential to me. If you need to know what to wear or to get a heads up on the pollen count, then this is the app for you.

How does it work?

  1. Like a lot of apps, your first screen will be a request to sign in or sign up for this app.
  2. The settings for this app are fairly standard. If you allow location awareness it will automatically show your local weather.
  3. Additional settings are to allow notifications, provide transit information, tell you how the weather will impact your hair (frizzy), show the pollen count, and provide the barometer reading.
  4. You can set whether it displays in Celsius or Fahrenheit. And set the wind speed to be either miles per hour or kilometers per hour.
  5. There are two icons at the bottom.  The first is SETTINGS.  Tapping this icon lets you to change any of your settings. The other icon, is ALARM. You can set the alarm by dragging Poncho’s hands in a clockwise manner. Then you just tap set and you get a message that the screen will dim and suggest that you plug in the phone. That tells me that it is a bit of a drain on the battery.

Like most apps, you get basic weather information. What this one brings to the table are a few extra pieces of functionality over the others and colorful engaging displays.

Devices:  This app can be used on either the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It requires iOS 9.0 or later. The App was developed by Poncho, Inc. Check out their website for information about this app.
